Nicholas Roehler Participates in Westminster CoOPERAtive Program in Princeton, N.J.

2014 Jun 9

Nicholas Roehler of Allentown, Pa., will participate in the CoOPERAtive Program, an opera training program at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J., in July. Nicholas was selected from several who applied to be a pianist intern through the Operatic Coach/Accompanying Program at CoOPERAtive.

Presented by professionals in the field of opera, the CoOPERAtive Program helps young singers and pianists prepare for acceptance into an advanced young artist or summer apprentice program. The CoOPERAtive Program provides expert mentoring from some of opera's most skilled collaborators about the professional demands of an operatic accompanist.

The three-week intensive program includes private coaching focusing on operatic style, performance techniques and collaboration on relevant repertoire with young professional singers. Nicholas' schedule will include private coaching sessions, classes and master classes with some of the country's leading conductors, stage directors and pianists.

The CoOPERAtive Program is directed by Westminster Choir College faculty members Laura Brooks Rice and Christopher Arneson. Pianist Martin Katz has said of the CoOPERAtive Program, "I am very impressed with the comprehensive training CoOPERAtive offers. For pianists, in-depth study of playing arias convincingly, of synchronizing with a singer, of following a conductor-all these are covered, and in a thoroughly professional but friendly, safe atmosphere."
